Sunnah Challenge of the Week

This semester, ISNU hopes to inspire students to implement more Sunnah practices of our beloved Prophet (ﷺ). Every week, we will be sharing a Sunnah and challenging the community to incorporate it into their daily lives in the hopes of strengthening our imaan together, insha’Allah. 

"Whoever revives my Sunnah then he has loved me. And whoever loved me, he shall be with me in Paradise."

Hadith on Smiling as Charity:

Abu Dharr narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 

 تَبَسُّمُكَ فِي وَجْهِ أَخِيكَ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ وَأَمْرُكَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَنَهْيُكَ عَنِ الْمُنْكَرِ صَدَقَةٌ وَإِرْشَادُكَ الرَّجُلَ فِي أَرْضِ الضَّلاَلِ لَكَ صَدَقَةٌ 

"Your smiling in the face of your brother is charity, commanding good and forbidding evil is charity, your giving directions to a man lost in the land is charity for you.”

ISNU's Challenge

We underestimate the power of a smile on both ourselves and those around us.

This characteristic is highly contagious and plays a massive role in building relationships with those around you.

Consciously take note of your usual facial expression: is your normal expression a happy one or do you often appear sad, exhausted, preoccupied or frustrated?

Make an effort to smile more often and spread joy and peace around you, just as the Prophet ﷺ instructed.
